ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION AND THE CREATION OF A PERMANENT UNDERCLASS

There are myriad and escalating problems created by the arrivals of unbridled immigrants who are illegally entering the US, by the thousands, each and every day. These unlawful incursions, primarily breaches affected at the US’ Southern border, have instigated and are continuing to cause multitudinous more problems than those they, ostensibly, solve.

The problems inherent with this onslaught include the injuries to US states’ (predominantly the Southwestern states) healthcare systems, schools and the displacement of US citizen-workers [1]. Arizona, California and Texas have been hit the hardest, in regards to healthcare, and many hospitals have been forced to close due to the unpaid treatment of illegals. In California, a State audit uncovered “…the county [Los Angeles] treats five times as many undocumented immigrants as required by state law.” In regards to healthcare, schools and illegals immigrant prisoners in US jails, NewsMax reported that the Federation for American Immigration Reform found: “total uncompensated educational, health care and incarceration costs were estimated to be 10.5 billion.” However, one of the even more insidious consequences of the illegal aliens’ invasion is the apparent attempt to establish a permanent illegal Hispanic underclass in the US.

If the illegal immigrants become “legal”, they will no longer be constrained to accept low wages and, in turn, their employers will have to raise their compensation. If said compensation is raised to US citizen-standards, the use of illegal workers will no longer be a viable option to those now employing them. If wages are forced upward, there will be no incentive to US employers to hire legal Hispanics over US citizen-workers. But, that is not the way the issue is developing in the US Senate. Instead, this US governmental body appears to be bent upon maintaining the aliens’ illegal status—or at least to allow them to enter the country by maintaining the porous US-Mexico border.

Although the US House of Representatives passed a Border Protection and Immigration bill that is actually pro-US citizens, the US Senate (our version of the British “House of Lords”) along with interested employers of illegals are proceeding to gut the House version in favor of maintaining the status quo. The Senate Judiciary Committee, headed by sometimes-Republican Sen. Arlen Specter, has even proposed a “virtual border fence”. A “virtual fence”, Senator? It either is a fence or it isn’t. In fact, the only group that is currently attempting to protect our Southern border is the US citizen Minuteman Project. The Minutemen (and women) are now “doing the job that the US government won’t do”.

So, the Republican-run House of Reps actually proposed a strong and viable bill (that would also protect the country from terrorists) but, the US Senate (both Democrats and Republicans) are proceeding to dismantle it.

Those who support the unchecked and predominantly Hispanic illegals’ ingress into the country include organizations that do not believe the United States should have any borders, various groups that are pushing the Communist agenda, anarchistic groups, the Mexican MEChA group which is becoming more militant in pushing its “Reconquista Movement” [2] and—of course—the employers in the United States who want workers who will labor for very low pay.

And let’s not forget the Mexican government, which continues to export its impoverished populations and criminals to the USA. For decades, Mexico has been able to avoid its own economic and corruption issues by shipping its problems to the US. When US Citizens have spoken out against Mexico’s policy, Mexican officials blame the US for not being more “compassionate” and then accuse US citizens of being “racist”—for not accepting [its] Mexican citizens; many of whom now want and have unequivocally stated that they want and plan to take over the United States!

But, our US Senators, forever short-sighted in wanting the enticements of the moment, continue to side with the illegals and against the US citizenry. The illegals’ employers lobbies, including the hopes for illegals’ votes, are now a much stronger incentive to “our” Senators that are the desires of the voters who placed them in office. If these Senators, who no longer listen to we-the-people, are allowed to generate their illegals-friendly bill, they will have effectively created a permanent Hispanic underclass and a class of people with whom US citizen-workers cannot economically compete. This underclass will, also, continue to drive our hospitals out of business and clog our prison system with their criminals.

Note: Members of the MS-13 Salvadoran gang, called to most dangerous and deadly gang in the US, enter the US via our open Southern border. There are also strong indications that MS-13 has ties to the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda.

So, the questions that remain are: “Do we want to continue to keep our border non-existent, thereby allowing terrorists to enter our country at will and assist our Senators in creating a permanent underclass? Or, do we-the-people want to stop the insanity?” If you, as do I, want to stop the lunatic-virus that has infected the US Senate, contact them and tell them. THE EXECUTION OF ATWAR BAHJAT

“Part of me died when I saw this cruel killing,” reports Hala Jaber in the The Sunday Times (UK).

“EVEN by the stupefying standards of Iraq’s unspeakable violence, the murder of Atwar Bahjat, one of the country’s top television journalists, was an act of exceptional cruelty.

Nobody but her killers knew just how much she had suffered until a film showing her death on February 22 at the hands of two musclebound men in military uniforms emerged last week. Her family’s worst fears of what might have happened have been far exceeded by the reality.”

And pass the story on to others. All those who need yet another example of the savage acts commited by Muslim terrorists in the name of Allah.

Her cries — “Ah, ah, ah” — can be heard above the “Allahu akbar” (God is greatest) intoned by the holder of the mobile phone [which was used to film the butchery of her execution.].

For this, there can be no diplomacy. No reasoning or rationale. As Michelle Malkin concludes, “Insanely evil.”

It is the year 2006, and while the civilized world worries collectively about such things as the environment and the less fortunate, for many religious extremists in the Middle East, this Stone Age barbarism is considered acceptable if not even commonplace.

As Greyhawk observes in the Mudville Gazette, “the London Times reporter can’t resist a mild apology for their act:”

Just as Bahjat bore witness to countless atrocities that she covered for her television station, Al-Arabiya, during Iraq’s descent into sectarian conflict, so the recording of her execution embodies the depths of the country’s depravity after three years of war.

Greyhawk concludes:

In truth, it represents a depth of depravity achieved over centuries. From the description, her killers hadn’t just conceived or improvised their method of execution on the spot — they seem to have been well practiced. But such is the nature of the enemy in this war, and perhaps this is their most sacred and well honed knowledge: if a brutality can be inflicted that exceeds all human ability to comprehend, the humans will find a way to deny it.

Or excuse it.

Or simply look the other way.

We will never look away. And we will help others know the truth.

It’s what we’re fighting against: evil.

IMPEACHMENT, TAX HIKES AND THE GWOT

That’s essentially the agenda that Nancy Pelosi announced last week if Democrats announced last week. Here’s a glimpse of that agenda:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said in an interview last week that a Democratic House would launch a series of investigations of the Bush administration, beginning with the White House’s first-term energy task force and probably including the use of intelligence in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. Pelosi denied Republican allegations that a Democratic House would move quickly to impeach President Bush. But, she said of the planned investigations, “You never know where it leads to.”

For those conservatives who plan on sitting out this election to send a message, think about what message you’ll be sending. That message would essentially be “I didn’t get what I want so I’m quitting. I’m letting the Democrats impeach President Bush. I’m letting the Democrats lose the war on Islamofascism.”

Before you do that, you’d better ask yourself these questions:

Do I really want Democrats losing the War on Terror?
Do I really think that life will improve when taxes are raised?
Do I really think that life will improve if President Bush is investigated and impeached?

If that’s the message you want to send, then you need to do a ton of soul-searching between now and November. It’s time to act like adults, not spoiled little brats. It’s time to remember the positive things that’ve happened the past 6 years. It’s time to think of the security President Bush’s prosecution of the war on Islamofascism has brought us.

Have there been mistakes? Yes, and not only tiny ones. But will life be better with a Speaker Pelosi letting the tax cuts lapse? Ask your local small businessman or woman that. Will life be better if the NSA intercept program is defunded? As yourself that when the next terrorist plot comes to fruition.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING: PAINTING THE MAP RED

Angry conservatives are driving the approval ratings of President Bush and the GOP-led Congress to dismal new lows, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that underscores why Republicans fear an Election Day massacre.

Six months out, the intensity of opposition to Bush and Congress has risen sharply, along with the percentage of Americans who believe the nation is on the wrong track.

The AP-Ipsos poll also suggests that Democratic voters are far more motivated than Republicans. Elections in the middle of a president’s term traditionally favor the party whose core supporters are the most energized.

MSM is, once again, about three months behind the curve. The prospects of the GOP Painting the Map Red have increased dramatically in just the past month.

After the Alito hearings and confirmation, prior to the resolution of the impasse over the selection of the prime minister in Iraq, during the run-up to and immediate aftermath of the election of the new House majority leader, and right through the first immigration debate in the Senate over McCain-Kennedy, there was in fact a moment or two when it seemed like the GOP base might just quit the game.

But with the rejection of the immigration approach favored by the Democrats and the mavericks, the appearance of some fiscal discipline among some senators, the slow but certain march towards the confirmation of future Judges Kavanaugh, Boyle, Haynes etc, the word that the White House will be back in the judicial nominations business very soon, and --most of all-- the return of the war to the public's consciousness because of Iran's manifest aggressiveness on nukes and Israel and undeniable threats in Central and South America, suddenly the election if framed --again--- as a choice between the serious though flawed party of victory, growth, and border security and the party of surrender, to both the jihadists abroad and the demands for amnesty now and again in the future at home.

There are undeniable signs of GOP renewal, in Senate races in Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Washington State, Montana and Missouri --and perhaps next week in Florida-- as well as great candidates for governor in Blackwell in Ohio and Swann in Pennsyvlania. As Michael Barone has argued, the GOP voters just seem to keep turning out, despite their grumbling.

Bill Kristol has argued that 9/11 may have changed American politics far more than we know, and I suspect the president's poll numbers --to the extent they are accurate-- reflect not dismay with the war, but dismay with the Administration's occasional appearance of placing priority on other than the war. Telling the American people that there is no substitute for victory in Iraq and firmness with Iran even to the point of confrontation is exactly the reassurance that serious people need. The president has been doing this for months, but he and his Adminsitration have beeen helped in recent weeks by the appearnce of the left's venom and its effects on the Democratic leadership. The party is truly unhinged, and a voite for any Democrat will be a vote for defeat, and not just in Iraq.

Suddenly, the debate is back where it ought to be, on the war, judges, taxes, spending and also border security. The 12 words have begun 15:

Win the war.
Confirm the judges.
Cut the taxes.
Control the spending.
Secure the border.

Democrats stand for the opposite of each proposition.

As Larry Kudlow reported on last night's show after his interview with the president, President Bush is ready for the campaign:

HH: Now Larry Kudlow, there's always a story behind the story as well, which has to do with temperament, how he looks, how it feels. How's the President feel to you? Energized or worn down?

LK: I have never seen him better, Hugh, and I've known him for over 20 years. In fact, he and I used to room together at a golf outing in California for a couple of years. This goes back to the middle 80's. And he was relaxed, he was calm, he was optimistic. When I challenged him during this interview, he was more than happy to come back to me and defend his positions. He looked well rested. I mean, I was very, very impressed. I've had a bunch of phone calls that people said they've never seen him look better. The interesting thing was after the cameras went down, he stayed with me for another 25 minutes in the same chair. And we start taking back and forth. He wants to talk. And we're talking about goofy Republicans in the Senate, and how they're departing from first principles. We talked about the war, which he thinks we are winning. We talked about the economy and the tax cut strategy. I mean, he just stayed there and talked when the cameras were off. It was absolutely fascinating. Absolutely fascinating.

The economy is cooking. The government in Iraq is forming. The battle over the judges has begun again. The tax cuts will get to the president's desk soon. And the immigration debate seemws to have settled on this center-right proposition (long advocated here and in my new book): Fence first. Regularization after the fence is finished.

And just in case the social conservatives were feeling left out (despite two incredible SCOTUS appointments) the Senate Democrats have decided to force a fight over judges just as the California Democrats --the leading edge of the left's cultural revolution-- have decided that the problem with public education is that it doesn't spend enough time teaching first graders (and all students) about gays and lesbians. (More on SB 1437 Monday, which will quickly become a national story, and which Arnold will have to veto.)

So the corner has been turned.

THE NEVER ENDING CARTOON JIHAD

Well, a few of them are headed to court:

The former UK head of radical Islamic group al-Muhajiroun has been charged over the Muslim cartoon protests in London in February, said Scotland Yard.

Anjem Choudary, 39, of Ilford, Essex, was charged with organising the protest without notifying the police.

A second man, Abdul Muhid, 18, of East London, was charged with two counts of soliciting to murder.

Demonstrations were held about cartoons satirising the Prophet Mohammed outside the Danish Embassy on 3 February.

Both men were arrested at Stansted Airport on Thursday for an alleged breach of bail and taken into custody at a London police station.

Both were originally arrested in March, in the wake of the protests against the controversial cartoons.

But the Cartoon Jihad continues. LGF notes:

The web site of Ansar al-Sunna has posted a hit list of German newspapers that printed the heinous cartoons of heresy, calling on Muslims to avenge the honor of the prophet Mohammed (propellor beanie upon him).

Meanwhile, the editors of the Jyllands-Posten are fighting back against Muslim smears:

The Jyllands-Posten sued Michael Christiani Havemann for saying its top editors ordered a cartoonists to deliberately make a “gross” drawing of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) because those solicited by freelance artists were not good enough. The 12 cartoons published by the daily in September prompted angry mobs to attack Western embassies in Muslim countries, including Lebanon, Iran and Indonesia. The cartoons later were reprinted in several countries worldwide.

Jyllands-Posten Editor in Chief Carsten Juste said Havemann’s accusations “are simply so gross and insulting that he has crossed the line for what we will accept”. “The cartoonists were explicitly asked to freely depict the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as they saw him, in other words without any directions from the newspaper’s side,” he said in a statement. The purpose of the cartoons was to challenge a perceived self-censorship among artists afraid to offend Islam, Juste said.

It's a point that the ignorant and irrational attackers just can't seem to get through their very thick skulls.
